1. Acceptance

By using thelocalpdf.com ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

The Local PDF provides free, browser-based utilities for working with PDF files, including merging, lossless compression, and lossy size reduction, together with written guides about working with documents. All processing happens locally in your browser; your files are not uploaded to us. The Service is provided free of charge and is funded by advertising.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and only with files you have the right to use. You must not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its advertising, use automated systems to generate artificial traffic or ad impressions, or reproduce the Service in a way that misrepresents its origin.

4. Your files and your responsibility

Because processing happens entirely on your device, you remain in sole possession and control of your files at all times. You are responsible for keeping backups of your originals. We recommend verifying the output of any tool before deleting an original — particularly the "Shrink to size" tool, which intentionally reduces image quality and removes selectable text.

5. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or error-free operation. Results depend on your browser, device, and input files, and unusual or corrupted documents may fail or produce imperfect output.

6. Guides and information

The guides published on this site are general information, not professional, legal, or technical advice for your specific situation. Figures such as attachment limits and typical file sizes are indicative and change over time. Verify anything that matters against the relevant provider's current documentation.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Local PDF shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from the use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.

8. Third-party content

Advertisements shown on the Service are provided by third-party networks. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content of advertisements or of external websites linked from them. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising cookies and your choices.

9. Intellectual property

The design, branding, written guides, and code of the Service are the property of The Local PDF or its licensors. Open-source libraries used by the Service remain subject to their respective licences. Your files remain entirely yours; we claim no rights over any file you process.

10. Changes and availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time, and may update these terms. The date above indicates the latest revision. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
